Abstract
Insect venom allergy is most commonly caused by bee and wasp stings. The venom allergy diagnosis is based on the clinical history and the demonstration of specific immunoglobulin E against the venom responsible through intradermal skin and/or in vitro tests. Allergen-specific immunotherapy is successful in the treatment of insect venom allergies. Most people who complete this treatment are no longer at risk of having dangerous reactions to the insect venom for a long time afterwards.
