Abstract

Currently, almost 40% of the population in developed countries suffer from allergies. Patients experience various allergic reactions ranging from isolated symptoms to anaphylaxis. When diagnosing allergic diseases, it is crucial to collect properly patient’s medical history, to document symptoms, to perform a physical examination of the patient, and confirm the sensitization. Skin prick tests, specific immunoglobulin (Ig) E are commonly used, butmore accuratemolecular tests for specific allergen components are performed to confirm or deny cross-reactions. These tests allow us to choose personalized treatment, anticipate possible allergic reactions in the future, or develop additional screening plan.
