Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has a significant impact on patients‘ quality of life, and exacerbations increase direct and indirect healthcare costs. Patients with COPD have an average of five different chronic conditions that often are undiagnosed and untreated. COPD exacerbation increases the risk of severe cardiovascular (CV) events. Triple therapy with budesonide / glycopyrronium / formoterol (BUD/GLY/FORM) reduced the risk of all-cause death in moderate to very severe COPD and was also associated with cardiopulmonary risk prevention, effectively reducing exacerbations. Prompt administration of BUD/GLY/FORM triple therapy after an exacerbation can ensure a lower risk of comorbidities and have a significant impact on long-term outcomes. Therefore, it is very important to diagnose and treat COPD as early as possible by providing measures to prevent exacerbations and to monitor for the occurrence of heart, lung and other diseases after a COPD exacerbation.
