NEW GUIDELINES FOR THE PERFORMANCE AND INTERPRETATION OF SPIROMETRY
Abstract
Spirometry is the most widely used lung function test. It determines or suspects the nature of the pulmonary ventilation disorder, whether obstruction, restriction or mixed, and assesses the resolvability and variability of obstruction. Spirometry is important in the diagnosis of lung diseases, monitoring their course and the effectiveness of treatment, and predicting prognosis.
