CAUSES AND TREATMENT OPTIONS OF IMMUNOSUPPRESSION DURING INFECTION

Abstract

Immunosuppression is a state related to supress of immune system and inadequate immune response. This state is also called immunodeficiency. Immunodeficiency is divided into primary and secondary. Secondary immunodeficiency is the most common immune system disorder which is caused by other states and diseases. Primary immunodeficiency (PID) is a wide group of diseases which has one common sign – innate disorder of particular immune system chain. Specific immunological measures let us to investigate which elements of immune system are affected and to choose appropriate treatment. PID
with antibody deficiency is treated with immunoglobulin therapy. In cases of cellular or combined immunodeficiency bone marrow transplantation can be performed. Complement components deficiency is treated by replacement of component which is lacking. Timely and adequate infection prophylaxis is very important in all cases. Scientific studies show that somemedicines, microelements, vitamins and herbs can have positive effect on immune system. This article describes the most common causes of immunosuppression and its correction possibilities.
