PRINCIPLES OF RADIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS OF INTERSTICIAL LUNG DISEASE
Abstract
Interstitial lung diseases encompasses a large number of disorders that are characterised by various types of injury to the interstitium. Normal lung interstitium is usually not visible on CT or radiography. Diffuse lung diseases cause thickening of interstitium that can be evaluated radiologically. The diagnosis of diffuse lung disease are based on the recognition of abnormal radiological findings on high resolution computed tomography and evaluation of theirs distribution It is often hard to make an accurate radiologic diagnosis, because the radiologic features of various diseases overlap and are not specific enough. Diagnosis of interstitial lung disease is a result of multidisciplinary approach.
