Abstract

Nowadays, many Lithuanians prefer to spend their vacations in economically underdeveloped countries such as Africa, Asia, South and Central America, where exists favorable conditions for spread of communicable diseases. Most serious infections manifest within the first month after return from tropical travel, yet infections related to travel exposures can occasionally occur months or even years after return. It is extremely important to identify and treat "the imported" diseases in time, because diagnostic errors can result in patient death.
