DRUG ALLERGY IN CHILDREN

Abstract

Drug allergy is an adwerse reaction resulting from an immunological response to the drug or its metabolites and accounts for approxinately 10 proc. of all reactions. Risk factors for allergic drug reactions include age, type of drug, degnree of exposuse and route of administration. Aroud 10-15 proc. of patients report drug allergies, but self reporting is much higher – than confirmed reactions, which occur in 1-3 proc. of hospitalized patients.
